Childhood Diabetes

Mistakenly called juvenile diabetes and, for years, believed to occur primarily in youth, we now know that Type 1 diabetes can start at any age. However, it’s very important that children who do have T1 diabetes manage their blood sugars and A1c properly. Unregulated, high blood sugars and hyperglycemia have dangerous effects on a child's development and health. Multiple studies show that children with T1 diabetes whose blood sugar is poorly controlled experience decreased growth.
